Job Duties

Plans, coordinates, and promotes a diverse program offering specilized activities for older adults; conducts short and long range planning; develops new programs in response to demonstrated need; directs and has oversight of recreational, social, and educational activities as well as congregate and home delivered meal programs; oversees work of staff and volunteers; prepares and manages departmental operating budget; applies for and manages grants, including responsibility for all reporting requirements; provides referral information regarding community services and resources; prepares records and reports; speaks to community groups and organizations; performs related tasks as required.

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a 4 year degree in a Human Services field, such as Social Work or Psychology and 1 year's experience in Human Services or Senior Adult Services; or graduation with an LPN degree and 3 years' experience in Nursing/Nurse's Aide role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Special Requirements

Possession of valid driver's license and active certifications in Food Safety and CPR required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  General knowledge of the philosophy, principles, and practices of senior center programs; general knowledge of the County's policies and procedures; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, associates, and the general public; ability to prepare related reports.
