Job Duties

Performs difficult professional and administrative work providing and overseeing the provision of home health programs; sets work standards and ensures that quality service is provided; coordinates nursing services with other departmental programs; assigns and maintains daily staff assignments while ensuring adequate staff coverage; serves as a liaison between physicians, services units, and other health agencies; evaluates the work of subordinates and counsels accordingly; provides direct patient care when needed; participates in all department clinics and special projects involving personal and public health; provides new staff orientation and training; performs other duties a required.

Education and Experience

Master’s in Nursing and three years of public health nursing experience (including one year of experience in a supervisory capacity); or graduation from a four year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a public health nursing rotation and four years of public health nursing experience (including one year of experience in a supervisory capacity); or a Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of public health nursing experience (including one year of experience in a supervisory capacity); or graduation from a school of professional nursing and five years of professional nursing experience, four of which must have been in public health nursing (including one year of experience in a supervisory capacity); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirements

Valid driver’s license; current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing; must meet and maintain minimum education and experience requirements as determined by the state of North Carolina.
